Zambia

In Zambia, we are currently working with a group of Zambian economic think tanks and research institutes on a wide range of high profile policy issues. These include addressing Zambia’s jobs challenge, energy sector reform, the risks and benefits of seeking IMF budgetary support and reform of agricultural subsidies.

Our work involves providing strategic and tailored advice to each organisation’s needs. Priorities include strengthening policy development capacity and supporting our partners’ approaches to policy influencing. Kivu’s work in Zambia began in 2014 under the DFID-funded Zambian Economic Advocacy Programme.  In 2016, we were asked to design and lead the delivery of the economic policy influencing component of the DFID-funded British Council Zambian Accountability Programme, which runs until Spring 2019.

Thinking politically

We are working with DFID-Zambia to help them embed a culture of ‘thinking and working politically’. Through a package of tailored advice and on-going mentoring, we are supporting DFID-Zambia staff to improve the way they think about political change.
