Kivu is delivering the ‘think tanks’ strand of the wider Transforming Economic Policy Programme (TEPP), which is being led by the International Growth Centre. Kivu is providing a combination of grant funding and tailored capacity building support for a small number of local Bangladeshi think tanks. To maximise potential impact Kivu carefully selected local think tanks and policy issues to focus on, including by taking into account the political context. We are supporting a mix of projects including two Expert Policy Centres, some medium-term projects, and some highly reactive projects – responding to opportunities for influence as they arise. For each partner, Kivu is providing entirely bespoke advice and support on aspects of good research-into-policy practice.

Key Impacts:
  • Policy impact through government changes to tax policy, including the government adopting a new target on increased levels of direct taxation.
  • More effective think tank practice, including more responsive work, conducting rapid research and advocacy targeting key decision makers.
  • Trust-based relationships developed with key partners, which allows for the provision of high-quality advice.
