Kivu worked with a Myanmar think tank – the Enlightened Myanmar Research Foundation (EMReF) – on a six-month research project to analyse the impacts of migrants returning to their home villages due to Covid-19. Qualitative research explored social and economic impacts on migrant workers, their families, and on the wider community.

Kivu provided advice and support, to maximise the quality and impact of the project. Kivu’s input was designed both to support the delivery of this specific project, and also to build the long-term capacity of EMReF to achieve policy influence and impact. Kivu’s advice covered: research methods; research analysis; and policy options development and appraisal. We also advised on the design and delivery of a policy influencing strategy.

Key Impacts:
  • Effective communication of evidence-based and politically feasible policy options to Government of Myanmar ministries
  • Development of EMReF’s capacity and confidence in developing credible policy recommendations, and in designing and delivering advocacy strategies
